Kaitlyn and Connor both got to ski this year. Kaitlyn is an old pro, and this was Connor's first time trying it. Kaitlyn loves to ski. She had a great team of assistants, all of whom volunteer their time to the adaptive ski program. I am so thankful that so many people take time out of their lives to volunteer for programs like this that give kids who otherwise may miss out on an experience as great as skiing the chance to do it. Kaitlyn's lead volunteer was "Carl". Carl is a grandfather who exudes patience and kindness. He really took a liking to Kaitlyn, as she did to him. They were a great team! Carl tried several different systems to help Kaitlyn ski. She started out in a stander, then moved to a harness-rin type thing, then to a hula-hoop system, then to just letting Kaitlyn hold onto Carl's ski pole, and finally letting her try to ski on her own (which she did for a few feet!). Kaitlyn was up for it all! She tried each and every option with a huge smile on her face. She especially loved riding the chairlift! I was so proud of her. She is a tough little cookie with such an enthusiasm for all that life has to offer. Here are a few pictures of Kaitlyn giving it her best shot...

Connor did a great job for his first time on skis! He took a lesson each day, and seemed to get a little better each time he tried it! I think that the next time we ski, I'll actually take him up on the lift and see if I can teach him myself. It seems to come quite naturally to him. Here are some pictures of Connor...

Wow! What a beautiful hotel! I've thought about letting Malayna try the adaptive ski programs here in CT too. Again, Kaitlyn is an inspiration!
